Viber is one of the most awaited application for Android mobiles. After the great success of Viber for iPhone, Viber has now officially launched its application for Android mobiles. Earlier Viber for Android was available in beta period and to some beta testers. But now the Viber Android app is available in Android market for free download.
I have been using Viber on my android mobile and trust me its one of the greatest apps for Free Calls and messages on mobile. Viber is an Android and iPhone application that lets you make free phone calls and send free text messages to other users that have Viber installed.
Viber is basically a cross platform mobile voip application. If you have Viber installed on your android mobile and your friend is using Viber on his/her iPhone, you can both talk/chat/sms for free.
If you have a good internet connection on your phone (on 3G or Wifi) then Viber works great. The call quality for voice calls made with Viber (Android and iPhone) is way too good, sometimes better than your normal telecom call. You can call any Viber user, anywhere in the world, for free and now also text them.
Some of the features of Viber for Android and Viber for iPhone :
1. Registration : No registration. Just install the app on your phone. It will automatically send SMS to your phone and voilla you are ready to use this app.
2. Contacts : All your address book contacts are automatically your Viber buddies. All those contacts who have Viber installed on their Pc will be shown separately or with a unique icon. You can call these contacts for free.
3. Calling procedure : When you make a call, Viber checks if the other person has Viber installed. If so call will be placed from Viber otherwise using your telecom provider.

According to the Viber CEO " The company has no plans to put an additional cost to the service, although they do have in mind a number of services that would require a premium subscription. For that reason this moment, the application can be downloaded on devices with Android 2.0 or above for free without any commercial advertising. The next goal of the developer is now focused on the publication of the corresponding Blackberry version."
I have been following the user reviews for Viber Android, some people are preferring Viber over Skype (I am also one among them). It's like WhatsApp but with Calls. Battery usage when on standby seems to be minimal.
