I just checked and PennyTel softphone is working perfect for me. I just called Indian numbers and voice quality was also good.
Please let me know if you are not even able to open the softphone as you have to enable it first.

@Regarding the registration shown on softphone : It registers everytime you switch softphone on. Just wait for few minutes (while it registers) and it should work.
Anyway what I can do is write a step by step tutorial with pictures. Hope that will help.
You can also use SIP settings to make sip calls. Use x-lite or Fring.

ReplyDeleteI guess the problem was temporary may be because of the load, as many many are using the service to make free calls. Try again it should work.
I have now pasted a picture in the blogpost showing you the page from where you have to make calls.
After the softphone shows you registered, you will be able to place calls.
Anyways if it still does not work, then make SIP calls using any SIP software like Zoiper, X-lite or Fring. Use SIP settings provided by PennyTel.

What does Nimbuzz have to do with this? I installed Nimbuzz software. Now what? It says I have no Nimbuzz credits. After I signed up with Pennytel, I have not received any mail from them. I am about to give up - this is a lot of nonsense. If I ever thought of going with Pennytel as a paid customer, that is also out of the question, now! I thought you were going to give us a step-by-step guide.

Pennytel does has its own softphone, which works (but due to such large traffic, it gives problems sometimes). An alternative to that is using Nimbuzz for making calls from your PC. Another way if to use Fring (in your mobile).
You have to configure Pennytel settings in Nimbuzz (check the link I mentioned). You don't have to buy any credit from Nimbuzz.
I will try to post video tutorial if you want.
Pennytel must have sent you a confirmation mail with login details. Please also check your SPAM folder.

At the end of the process, it says "a mail is being sent to me", but I have not seen any mail in either Inbox. I have ensured that my spam folders were checked - nothing there, either. Nothing, whatsoever, from Pennytel! I wrote to their support email, but no answer. Are you able to contact them and let me know the solution, please.
I have no problems configuring the software. In fact, it rings and hangs up. I believe the key to the whole thing is getting that email from Pennytel, which I am not seeing. Not a single email from them!!
