You also need to have Adobe Flash player ver 9.0 or above installed in your computer. As it is required to make calls using it. You can also use flashphone on Pocket PC devices, you need to download and install Flash Player 7 for Pocket PC for that. You'll be able to use flashphone after installation.

These are Free PC to phone calls. Free calls to Russia (Moscow and St. Petersburg) are available after registration. There is no mention about the number of minutes per call. I guess there is no limit.

You can also use Flashphone in your SIP device(With X-lite etc). Sip settings are available in your account interface. They have also mentioned that users will be able to call other destinations using SIP settings.

BSNL Slashes STD Rates by 50% : India

Another good news for Indians. The telecom war between companies led to huge drop in std tariff. It began when Airtel reduced their STD and roaming charges, followed by Idea and Vodafone. Now BSNL has joined the race with reducing their STD charges.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) today slashed STD charges on its cellular and fixed line networks by up to 50 per cent. The new tariff will be effective from Wednesday. I hope that the tariff cut could prompt rivals to bring down prices further. The time is near when we will be able to talk for free in India too. A very good news for VOIP in India.

Landline users would pay Rs.1.20 per minute as against Rs.2.40 for STD calls to all networks. Rural customers would pay 80 paise per minute for STD calls.

The charges for intra-circle calls to BSNL network were also reduced from Rs.1.20 per minute to 60 paise with an increased pulse rate of two minutes.For mobile phone customers, STD charges were cut to Rs.1.20 per minute for the same network and Rs.1.40 for other networks.

The roaming charges for all incoming calls were reduced — to Re.1 per minute from Rs.1.75 for all incoming calls; to Re.1 from Rs.1.40 for local outgoing; and to Rs.1.50 from Rs.2.40 for outgoing STD. The monthly rental of ‘Super One India Plan’ was reduced substantially to Rs.299 from Rs.799.

Method of Using Proxies : Changing IP address

I have written many posts on making absolutely free calls to all over the world including India, Pakistan. We have been running some exclusive offers for our blog readers viz. Free 1 hour calls to India, 2.5$ credit by Tpad, 10$ off on Pingo calling cards till father's day.

Recently, I told you about Youcall, Goobercall and methods to make free calls to India using them. In my posts, I have asked my users to change their IP address, use proxies when creating a new accounts. I have received many emails asking about How to use Proxies, changing IP address. So, I thought to cover this topic on the blog itself, as many other people must be facing this similar problem.

There are two ways which I regularly use to change my IP address. Both the methods work successfully for me.

First Way - ::: This method works perfectly but is limited the number of times which you can use to change IP address.

1. Log on to a proxy website. Some of them are Hidemyass, Cantbustme, Guardster, Kproxy.

2. After visiting the website, you will see a column to enter the web address. Just enter the website address which you want to visit ( where you want to register with changed IP Address).

The method above changes your IP address in that particular browser (TAB) only. It does not change your IP address in other Tab opened.

Second Method :: This is the best method as number to IP addresses which you can change are just unlimited. I call this as IP:Port method.

1. Visit Samair, you will see list of IP addresses (of the form 202.153.132.124) and Port address (8080,80,808,3128).

For FireFox users go to (Tools > Options > General > Connection Settings) and select "Manual Proxy Configuration", and enter in an IP and Port from samair.

For Internet Explorer users go to (Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Lan), select "use proxy server" and enter in an IP and Port from the list.

I have added screenshot for Firefox.


This changes your IP address, now visit the website (for which you wanted changed IP), register with them. Don't worry if your Internet work slow, it works slow using proxies.

I have seen that different port types work for different people (IP address). So try using a few of them (8080,80,808), and see which one works for you. Also try and using proxies of different locations. For may case, usually China, Japan, USA proxies with port address 8080 works fine.

After using proxies, and when you have successfully registered. Change back your settings to DIRECT CONNECTION to Internet. ( See Screenshot for Firefox). (For Internet explorer Uncheck "use proxy server".) Now your internet speed will be as before.

Remember :: The method above will change the IP address of the whole browser. After you have used the proxy to change IP address, restore back (as described) to normal settings. This will make your internet work as before, normal.
